Survival horror has never been hotter in recent years, thanks to Capcom’s Resident Evil remakes, but perhaps we should look back further for inspiration. In particular, consider what happened back in the 90s and early 2000s!

Independent developers were keeping fans entertained before the recent revival of the survival horror genre. However, I wish we saw fewer P.T.-inspired first-person horror titles (Konami, I’m still bitter with you for canceling Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills game!). However, they do have another horror project planned for Xbox.

Amnesia, one of the more well-known survival horror series’, may draw some parallels to P.T. Just like that classic Konami title that got canceled but inspired multiple similar games, Amnesia has generated its fair share of imitators – which may cause you to scratch your head at this thought, yet today’s topic deserves your consideration.

Death Relives, developed and published by Nyctophile Studios using Unreal Engine 5, will soon arrive on Steam. Death Relives is an Aztec survival horror game inspired by Amnesia while also showing some elements from Resident Evhan Winters’ era gameplay.

Death Relives is a 3D first-person survival horror action exploration game for P.C. that immerses players into an oppressive nightmarish world inhabited by long-forgotten gods who must be defeated to survive,” according to its description. Players explore historical places related to Aztec mythology while using unique combat and stealth mechanics against these gods, sending their souls down into Mictlan (Aztec mythology’s underworld).

No official release date for Death Relives has yet been set at this writing; however, its anticipated arrival could come between now and April this year. Be sure to add Death Relives as an asset on the Steam wishlist to stay informed about development and availability!
