Upcoming Pokémon TCG Set May Introduce New “BWR” Card Rarity

The Pokémon Trading Card Game may be introducing a brand-new card rarity in its upcoming **Black Bolt and White Flair** sets, according to leaks from reliable sources.

Set to release in **Japan on June 6**, these sets are expected to feature Pokémon from the **Unova region**, including several Legendary and Mythical creatures. Leaked images shared by *CentroLeaks* reveal three cards — **Zekrom**, **Reshiram**, and **Victini** — all sporting a new **“BWR” rarity label**, which some believe stands for “**Black/White Rare**.” The cards are presented in striking **monochrome designs**, with each Pokémon matching a signature color: black for Zekrom, white for Reshiram, and red for Victini.

If confirmed, this would be the first new rarity introduced to the Pokémon TCG since 2023. While some fans are excited by the unique design and possible rarity, others have expressed concerns about **scalping and availability**, fearing these cards could become high-value targets in the secondary market.

Reactions to the leaked card art have been mixed, with some fans eager to collect them, while others are critical of the **monochromatic aesthetic**, particularly Victini’s design.

The **Black Bolt and White Flair** sets currently have no international release date, but more details are expected soon as the Japanese launch approaches.
