Anya Taylor-Joy Reunites With The Witch Director On Nosferatu Remake
Nosferatu was the 1922 silent film that F.W. directed. Murnau, which follows a Transylvanian vampire called Count Orlock, was an unofficial adaptation from Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Stoker tried to sue the production earlier in its life. The film would become a horror classic and inspire many other films.
Eggers, who signed on to helm the remake back in 2017, has made a name for himself in the horror genre, blending well with A24’s unique brand of storytelling. After making his directorial debut in 2015’s The Witch, which stars Taylor-Joy, Eggers has enjoyed directing Robert Pattinson (and Willem Dafoe) in 2019’s The Lighthouse. He is now leading an ensemble cast for the historical thriller The Northman. He is best known for his indie projects, but he might be expanding his horizons by directing the Nosferatu.
Eggers stated that his Nosferatu remake would be more popular than his earlier films in an interview with Bloody-Disgusting back in 2019. “Yeah, Nosferatu will need to be more accessible than these films. Particularly The Lighthouse! But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Charles Dickens is fun to read, but it’s not difficult to understand. That’s fine.
Taylor-Joy won a Golden Globe for her outstanding work in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit. She will also star in Eggers’ The Northman and Edgar Wright’s Last Night in Soho. Mark Mylod’s The Menu and George Miller’s Mad Max. Furiosa. Taylor-Joy’s multiple reuniting with Eggers is creating one of Hollywood’s most exciting yet fascinating duos. This should make every Hollywood fan a bit more vigilant. Taylor-Joy’s presence onscreen will elevate any film she chooses.
