Shuttle hubs can be a lifesaver when it comes long-range transportation in Surviving Mars. However, building them is difficult. Shuttle Hubs are only available in certain conditions. Maintenance can be expensive, depending on the stage of your colony’s development.

Mars Shuttle Hub Creation Survived
You can find Shuttle Hubs in the Infrastructure tab under Surviving Mars’ buildings menu. However, they can only be built immediately if you meet certain conditions.
You will need to choose the Rocket Scientist profile as your commander for the beginning of the game. This will allow you to unlock the CO2 Jet Propulsion Technology, which is necessary for creating Shuttle Hubs on Surviving Mars.
You can choose to be a different commander and you will eventually have access to the Shuttle Hubs of Surviving Mars’ random Robotics tech tree. It’ll take longer, but you’ll get there sooner than you think.
You can transport resources and colonists long distance with the Shuttle Hub. This allows you to have faster access to resources further away, and to be able develop fledgling operations more reliably.

You will need to mix 10 concrete, 15 polymers and 10 electronics in order to construct a Shuttle Hub. To function properly and keep its shuttles going, the structure will need 10 electricity and 1 fuel. You’ll need 1 electronic device for maintenance.
Although Shuttle Hubs are an important part of your colony’s operation, it is worth remembering that they don’t work in Dust Storms.
