PlayStation Plus users have taken to dividing opinions over its new freebie which many view as pointless and doleful.
Subscribing to Sony’s PlayStation Plus service gives subscribers many perks at their disposal; obviously, as soon as their subscription tier increases, so will these perks.
PlayStation Plus Premium gives subscribers access to an impressive collection of games spanning multiple generations, such as those released for original PlayStation, PS2 PS3, PSP and the new revised Sony Pictures Core that offers subscribers a handpicked selection of films.
PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers enjoy access to game trials that last anywhere between an hour or five hours, depending on which title has been trialled. Most recently, Sony PlayStation included trials for two of 2023’s “best and worst” titles as part of this perk – surely someone at Sony must have made this choice on purpose?
Baldur’s Gate 3 and Lord of the Rings: Gollum have both received trials on PlayStation Plus recently; one game (Baldur’s Gate 3) is seen by fans as terrible while its opposite (The Lord of the Rings: Gollum) are somewhat controversial among PlayStation fans, and I can understand a trial for Baldur’s Gate 3, since it provides fans with a taste to see what all the fuss is about; word-of-mouth alone has likely sold more copies than anything else has; unfortunately word-of-mouth doesn’t receive commission for their wonderful sales figures!
As for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, only morbid curiosity would motivate me to play that game – though I may consider downloading its PS Plus trial for trial purposes. Yet it remains hard for me to fathom a scenario in which anyone plays that trial version and decides they want the full one; perhaps only someone deeply hatred themselves might make such an argument?
Redditors on Reddit have recently discussed the new PS Plus offerings on Reddit: two hour Baldur’s Gate 3 trial and one-hour The Lord of the Rings: Gollum trial were provided according to Redditor Turbostrider27.
“Bottom line,” responded BitingArtist. “Come on man! Baldur’s Gate 3 is not that bad!” joked Kinophallus as an answer. OcelotWolf exclaimed their generosity in providing an hour to play what may only require 10 minutes for viewers to realize is it an inferior game – likely in reference to The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.
Lord of the Rings: Gollum can now be played across PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox and Nintendo Switch platforms. Baldur’s Gate 3 can currently be found on PC and PlayStation 5, and will arrive for Xbox Series X|S sometime within this month.
