WWE HTML2_ will launch in March 2022. This is five months later than the normal October launch window. 2K Sports and the WWE announced the launch during SummerSlam 2021 on Saturday; the game was first revealed at WrestleMania 37 in April.

The hype trailer above didn’t mention platforms or a specific date other than next March. The game will launch two years after WWE 2K20, the last entry in the series. This game was developed entirely in-house by 2K Sports, Visual Concepts, and 2K Sports.

That game launched in a nominally finished state, but it was riddled with gameplay bugs and technical issues that forced the cancellation of a 2020 edition while developers regrouped. Last fall, WWE 2K Battlegrounds was released by Saber Interactive.

WWE 2K15 was the last WWE 2K title to launch in October. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of this game followed their predecessors by one month. THQ also published WWE’12 in November 2011. 2K Sports acquired the series after THQ was liquidated in early 2013. The series dates back to 2004’s vs Raw on PlayStation 2

2K Sports stated that it would share more information about WWE 2K22 in January. In addition to the trailer, the label provided two stills of the wrestler Edge, captured in-engine.
