Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA developers unite for massive new game
As December approaches, gaming industry executives expect an action-packed month. On 7 December will see The Game Awards return and Geoff Keighley teased some big surprises for this 10 year anniversary event; also Rockstar Games plans on unveiling GTA VI trailer at this month.
Rockstar took to social media last month and announced they’d release the trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI sometime early December – it could come out any minute! Fans are getting hyped. Furthermore, UK retailer Argos have revealed an anticipated pre-order date as part of this trailer madness; after years of speculation it is exciting that something tangible may soon exist for us all to look upon and rejoice over! Furthermore, previous GTA and Red Dead Redemption 2 developers will join forces on this venture together!
Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser recently established Absurd Ventures, an intermedia transmedia company. Houser appears to have hired former Rockstar developers from GTA projects as well as Red Dead Redemption 2; specifically Lazlow Jones and Michael Unsworth who both joined his new transmedia venture according to PCGamesN’s report.
Houser left Rockstar Games in 2020. Unsworth was instrumental in shaping many of Rockstar’s prominent titles during his time there and it appears likely he will oversee Absurd Venture’s story and narrative output as vice president of writing.
Absurd Ventures will reportedly focus on building “new universes” that tell great stories, much in line with Houser’s desire to experiment across disciplines and push gaming forward as part of his ‘transmedia’ plans. We look forward to see more!
